Lexi — Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 16, 2026
Applies to: Lexi for iPhone and iPad, version 1.0.7 and later
Developer ("we", "us"): QuickTap IO

Lexi helps you learn vocabulary from what you read. You save words, together with the sentence where you found them, organize them into lists and review them at the right time. This policy explains what Lexi stores, what leaves your device and what you can do about it. It is written to match what the app actually does; if the app changes, this document changes with it.

1. The short version

  • Lexi has no account, no sign-in and no password.
  • Your words, lists, sentences and review history live on your device. If you use Lexi Pro (or used Lexi before Pro existed) and are signed in to iCloud, they also sync through your own private iCloud database; we cannot read it.
  • To show a translation, Lexi sends the word or sentence you ask about to Microsoft Translator. This is the only time your text leaves your device for a service other than Apple.
  • Lexi has no ads and does not sell or share your data for advertising.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple; subscription status is managed with RevenueCat. We never see your card or Apple ID.
  • The diagnostic file you can send to support contains device and app metadata and counts, never your words, lists or sentences.
  • You can erase everything at any time from Settings › Your data.

2. Information Lexi accesses

2.1 Text you give Lexi

The words and sentences you type, paste, share from Safari or another app (through the share extension), scan with the camera, import from a link or import from a file. Lexi keeps the sentence where you found a word, and the source title and address when the app you shared from provides them, so you can see where you read it.

2.2 Camera (optional)

Lexi asks for the camera only when you choose "Scan text". Text is recognized on your device, and photos are not stored.

2.3 Microphone and speech recognition (optional)

When you practice pronunciation, Lexi asks for the microphone and speech recognition. Recognition is performed by Apple's speech service, on your device when your language supports it. Lexi does not record or keep your voice.

2.4 Photos (optional, add-only)

If you choose "Save image" on a word card, Lexi asks for permission to add that image to your photo library. It cannot read your photos.

2.5 Notifications (optional)

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. A reminder shows a word from your library; it is built on your device and never sent anywhere.

3. Information stored on your device and in iCloud

Lexi keeps the following in a database on your device:

  • your words, their translations, part of speech, the sentence and source where you read them, and the lists you create;
  • your review history: when you reviewed a word, whether you got it right and when it is due next;
  • your preferences, such as study language, new words per day, reminder schedule, voice and appearance;
  • automatic backups of your library, kept on your device (the seven most recent), and any export you create.

The database is shared with Lexi's share extension and widgets through an App Group on your device. If you use Lexi Pro, or used Lexi before Pro existed, and you are signed in to iCloud, Lexi syncs this database through CloudKit, in the private database tied to your Apple ID. Without Lexi Pro, a new installation keeps your library only on the device. That data is protected by your Apple account; we have no access to it and no server that holds a copy. The widgets read a small file that the app writes on your device, with a few of your words to display.

4. Information sent to other services

4.1 Microsoft Translator

To translate a word or sentence and to look up its meanings, Lexi sends that text, with the language pair, to Microsoft Translator. Lexi sends it only when you save, look up or import text, not in the background. We do not send your name, your contacts, your lists or your account details (there are none). Microsoft processes the request under its own terms and privacy statement; we do not control its retention.

4.2 Apple

iCloud sync (CloudKit), speech recognition, the App Store and notifications are provided by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.

4.3 RevenueCat

If Lexi offers a paid plan, RevenueCat helps us verify purchases and know which features you unlocked. It receives an anonymous app user identifier and purchase information from the App Store, and technical data such as your device model and country. It does not receive your words.

4.4 TelemetryDeck

Lexi sends a small number of anonymous usage signals (for example, that the app was opened) to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. Signals carry no names, words, sentences or lists, and cannot identify you.

4.5 Pages you ask Lexi to read

If you paste a link to pick words from a page, your device downloads that page directly from its website, like a browser would, and reads the text locally. The website can see the request as it would from any browser.

4.6 Support emails

If you write to us from Settings › Help, the email is addressed to quicktap2024@gmail.com with a text file attached. The file contains the app version, your operating system version, device model, interface and study languages, permission states, whether iCloud is available, your plan, and the number of words, lists and words due. It never contains your words, lists or sentences, and you can review it before you send the email.

5. What Lexi does not do

  • It does not require an account, e-mail or phone number.
  • It does not show ads or use advertising or cross-app tracking identifiers.
  • It does not read your contacts, location or photo library.
  • It does not sell your words, lists or review history, or share them for marketing.
  • It does not keep copies of your library on our servers.

6. Your controls

  • Export your library as CSV or as a Lexi file (part of Lexi Pro), and import it back, from Settings › Your data.
  • Back up and restore from the same screen (creating a backup on demand is part of Lexi Pro; automatic backups stay on your device).
  • Erase everything with "Delete all my data". This removes your words, lists and history from the device and from your iCloud, after a confirmation, and keeps one last backup on the device so you can undo a mistake.
  • Permissions: camera, microphone, speech recognition, photos and notifications can be changed at any time in the system Settings.
  • iCloud: you can turn off iCloud for Lexi in the system Settings; your data then stays only on this device.
  • Delete a single word or list from its screen.

Uninstalling the app removes its local data from the device; data in your iCloud is removed by deleting it in Lexi first, or from iCloud storage settings.

7. Retention

Your library stays until you delete it. Automatic backups keep the seven most recent copies on your device and replace older ones. Text sent to Microsoft Translator is handled under Microsoft's terms; Lexi does not keep a copy outside your own device and iCloud.

8. Children

Lexi is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) and does not knowingly collect information from them. Because there is no account and nothing is stored on our servers, we hold no personal information about any user.

9. Security

Your library relies on the protections of Apple platforms: the app sandbox, device encryption, your passcode or biometrics and iCloud's encryption in transit and at rest. Connections to the translation service use TLS encryption. Backups and exports are files on your device; protect them as you would any other personal file.

10. Changes to this policy

If Lexi starts to collect new data, use a new permission or send information to a new service, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described in the release notes. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version.
